Haagen-Dazs Vanilla Milk Chocolate Almond All Natural Ice Cream BarsHaagen Dazs sent me a few coupons to try out some of their all natural ice cream products. I let the kids choose and one of the products they selected was the Haagen-Dazs Vanilla Milk Chocolate Almond All Natural Ice Cream Bars. Each substantial 87 gram bar is described as having vanilla ice cream dipped in rich milk chocolate and almonds. Sounds delicious.

NUTRITION FACTS
Serving Size: 1 bar (87 grams)
Calories: 300
Total Fat: 22 grams, 34%
Saturated Fat: 13 grams, 65%
Sodium: 40 mg, 2%
Carbohydrates: 21 gram
Fiber: 1 gram 4%
Sugars: 19 grams
Protein: 5 grams

This was so tasty. The chocolate coating is like a hard, crunchy shell of chocolate studded with almonds. The vanilla ice cream beneath the chocolate layer is melt in your mouth creamy. And as big as this ice cream bar is, it did not melt till about 3/4 of it was gone. really quite delicious - I can always tell when a product uses full fat milk in their ice cream because it just seems that much richer - but then I get scared to look at the nutrition label.

In this case, each Haagen-Dazs Vanilla Milk Chocolate Almond All Natural Ice Cream Bar provides 300 calories, 34% of the daily value for total fat and 65% of the daily value for saturated fat - gasp wowza! There is also 19 grams of sugars and 5 grams of protein.

The ingredients list is all natural and includes cream, skim milk, sugar, egg yolks, vanilla extract, milk chocolate, almonds etc.

A box of 3 costs $2.78 at Walmart, but as goof as this tastes, I can't see myself eating a snack that's going to proive 65% of the daily value for saturated fat. I would rather get a less rich tasting bar, but that's still delicious with half the calories and way less fat, like the Weight Watchers Giant Chocolate Cookies and Cream Ice Cream Bar or Blue Bunny Orange Dream Bar. Plus it seems that Haagen Dazs makes a snack sized Vanilla Milk Chocolate Almond that's 52 grams and has 190 calories - but still provides 40% of the daily value for saturated fat.
