I loved fruit leather as a child, so when I found Matt's Munchies Fruit Leathers, especially the Choco-Nana flavor, I was pretty excited. Ripened bananas and velvety chocolate ... sounds interesting. I remember meticulously peeing apart the fruity strips my mom put in my lunch box, and I looked forward to doing it again. This product was billed as "a healthy all natural trip to paradise," free of gluten, nuts eggs, and dairy.
With no artificial anything, ingredients in this are just a few: banana puree, semi sweet chocolate (evaporated cane juice, chocolate liquor, cocoa butter), organic chocolate concentrate (water, organic gum acacia, organic flavors). I paid $1.79 for my snack, and one bite told me it was well worth it. This fruit leather was chewy but not too much so, and the chocolate/ banana mixture was surprisingly great. The banana puree makes for a thick texture which made me love peeling apart these strips.
Each 2-square 1ounce serving of Matt's Munchies Choco-Nana Fruit Leathers provides 90 calories, 2% of the daily value for total fat, 8% of the DV for fiber, 16 grams of sugar and 1 gram of protein.
I enjoyed the snack immensely although I don't eat fruit leathers regularly - too much sugar and sometimes it's hard not to eat quite a lot at once. I like that this is made with all natural ingredients, and has 2 grams less sugar than Archer Farms Organic Pomegranate Fruit Strips. I found mine at a health foods store, but you can look for them online at ChefRobertsdirect.com.
