Sharon's Dutch Chocolate Sorbet Review

Sharon's Dutch Chocolate SorbetLactose-free substitutes to satisfy a chocolatey ice cream craving are few and far between. The Purely Decadent Dairy Free Mocha Almond Fudge was really good, but I love having lots of options. I like sorbet, which I usually think of as fruity flavors, so the idea of chocolate sorbet is ... interesting - won't it just be too icy and not creamy enough? When I bought Sharon's Dutch Chocolate Sorbet the other night, which is all natural and lactose free, that was the question I was seeking to answer.

NUTRITION FACTS

I opened the container and took a spoonful, unsure of what to expect. What I found was that, although this sorbet was a tad on the icy side compared with ice cream, but it was definitely DELICIOUS. Absolutely delicious. Each spoonful is rich and creamy, and it's almost like eating frozen mousse. I love that the flavor was almost like dark chocolate (my favorite), and it was pronounced without being overkill. I ate way too much of this sorbet, but it was so good. woohoo

Each 1/2 cup serving of Sharon's Dutch Chocolate Sorbet provides 110 calories, 3.5 grams of total fat which includes 1 gram of saturated fat (8% and 6% of the daily value), 20 grams of sugar and no fiber or protein.

The ingredients are simply, coconut cream, water, sugar, dutch cocoa, pectin and guar. Ahh - the sugar makes this one an occasional treat. And consider that while Purely Decadent Dairy Free Mocha Almond Fudge is also dairy free and has a similar amount of sugar, it has 24% of the daily value for fiber and 3 grams of protein. Just something to think about.

One pint cost $4.59 - not cheap, but perhaps a reasonable price to pay for chocolate deliciousness.
