The Haagen-Dazs Low Fat Chocolate Sorbet was divine, and I knew it was only a matter of time before I tried another variety. On my last grocery shopping expedition, I spied the Haagen-Dazs "Zesty Lemon" Fat Free Sorbet and I threw it in my cart without hesitation. The Haagen-Dazs website says, "Juicy, sun-ripened lemons are selected to create this tart yet sweet fruit sorbet. Häagen-Dazs zesty lemon sorbet is an indulgent treat, with a delicate flavor that will dazzle your tongue and refresh your senses."
I took it home, grabbed a spoon, and dug in. I like that the brand's sorbets are smooth and creamy, not rock-solid, right out of the container. As for the flavor, all I can say is: WOW. This stuff is zesty and lemony and just absolutely delicious. With simple ingredients like Water, Sugar, Corn Syrup, Lemon Juice Concentrate, Fruit Pectin, Natural Flavor, Citric Acid, it's no wonder the lemon really shines through - it's one of the main flavors, other than sugar to make it a bit less tart.
Each 1/2 cup serving of Haagen-Dazs Zesty Lemon Fat Free Sorbet provides 110 calories, no fat, 29 grams of sugar and no protein. So it's basically a sugary, frozen treat.
I bought a pint of the Zesty Lemon stuff for $4.99 (in an overpriced grocery store), and the taste is delicious, but clearly this will have to be an occasional summertime treat. The Haagen-Dazs Low Fat Chocolate Sorbet has 20 more calories but 9 grams less sugars (20 grams), so think about that when deciding which flavor to get - as they are both exceptionally tasty.
