Weight Watchers Smart Ones Fruit Inspirations meals are new recipes inspired by the natural goodness of fruit, developed with the help of Chef Devin Alexander. The Pineapple Beef Teriyaki has, according to WW, "tender beef strips and juicy pineapple in a sweet teriyaki sauce with rice," and I couldn't agree with them more.
Unlike the Fruit Inspirations Orange Sesame Chicken, which I liked but seemed to have a very loose connection with any fruit (read the review), the fruit in this meal was front and present in all it's bright yellow glory. The combination of pineapple beef with the sweet teriyaki sauce and pineapples really worked well together. If the meal had 1 flaw, it would be the rice. It is a little hard/ tough, but maybe that's the way they wanted it. I expect that texture from brown rice (on my wish list for Weight Watchers meals), but not from white rice.
A serving of Weight Watchers Fruit Inspirations Pineapple Beef Teriyaki has 260 calories, 4.5 grams of fat and 1.5 gram of saturated fat (7% of the recommended amount), 14% of the daily value of cholesterol, 31% of the RDA for sodium (740 mg), 18 grams of protein and 38 grams of total carbohydrates including 15 grams of sugar and no fiber. This meal is 6 Weight Watchers Points, probably because WW doesn't account for sodium and cholesterol - while the cholesterol is not too bad, it is the highest that I have seen in a frozen meal.
The nutrition facts of this meal are a little better than for the Fruit Inspirations Orange Sesame Chicken (less calories and fat, but more sodium). The cost was $2.92 and I would buy this again, but not if I am watching my sodium intake. 31% is just unacceptable.
