Healthy Choice Italian Sausage Pasta Bake

Healthy Choice Italian Sausage Pasta Bake is described as having Italian sausage and freshly made Rotini pasta in a hearty tomato marinara sauce topped with mozzarella cheese. The meal when cooked is not far-off the photo on the packaging, but it's basically mini-meatballs with pasta & marinara sauce.

While this is quite a simple lookng meal, one you would think is hard to get wrong, there is something off about the taste. When I checked out the reviews on the Healthy Choice product website, the comment that most closely resembled my experience said, "the sausage tastes like cleaning fuel." I thought it tasted like anti-freeze had spilled in it. There were many positive reviews there, so maybe it's just a bad batch that I happened to get, but my experience was of a very noticeable chemical taste.

As for the nutrition facts, each serving provides 270 calories, a low 6 grams of total fat, 560 mg of sodium (23% of the daily value), 16 grams of protein, 6 grams of fiber (24% of the daily value) and 6 grams of sugars. Surprisingly, the ingredients list is relatively simple - starting with cooked whole grain pasta, tomato puree, Italian sausage, tomatoes part-skimmed mozzarella cheese, California Chardonnay Wine and 2% or less of a few more ingredients. The label says there are no preservatives used.

Needless to say, because I didn't like the taste of Healthy Choice Italian Sausage Pasta Bake, I wouldn't buy this again - not worth the $2.00+ that I paid.
