Weight Watchers SamrtOnes Dragon Shrimp Lo Mein Review
I have been curious as to why Weight Watchers and Healthy Choice brand frozen foods let Lean Cuisine introduce dozens of new and innovative meals, yet they kept the same old stuff. Well, it seems that Weight Watchers was just biding it's time, because they let loose 4 new Smart Ones meals including their Dragon Shrimp Lo Mein. It has, "tender shrimp in a mild soy-garlic sauce paired with Asian noodles tossed with sugar snap peas and carrots."
With a name like Dragon Shrimp, the shrimp had better be BIG, and yes they were - not huge, actually, maybe only medium size, but fat and juicy! The meal itself is very tasty - in fact it's one of my favorites - everything works well together, although I did think the sauce should have had more sweetness, which would have added a nice contrasting note. Weight Watchers meals don't tend to be big, so I had to pair this with something else to make it more of a filling lunch - forget about eating this for dinner! Instead of salad, I went with Luigis Italian Ice - one of my favorite cool treats (I cannot go through summers without Luigis)!

One serving of Weight Watchers Dragon Lo Mein Shrimp has 240 calories, 4 grams of total fat which is 6% of the RDA, 1 gram of saturated fat, 29% of the RDA for sodium, 14 grams of protein and 36 grams of total carbohydrates, which includes 5 grams of sugars and 11% of the RDA for fiber (3 grams). This meal is also 5 WW Points.
I tend to only examine nutrition and ingredients of foods, but in this case I was curious about what are the definitions for "Lo Mein" and "Asian Noodles." I found that Lo Mein is a typical Chinese dish involving soft noodles, meat or seafood, and vegetables [Wikipedia]. Asian Noodles are noodles that typically don't have eggs [Cook's Thesaurus] - the ones in Weight Watchers does.
Weight Watcher's did pretty good with this one. I would definitely buy it again, especially since I got it on sale for $2.99.
