Meat & Veggie lovers unite! I have found a product you will both agree is fantastic and it's name is Boca Bratwurst Sausage. This veggie sausage is AMAZING! Vegetarians will enjoy the full bodied flavor and meat eaters will enjoy the 'real meat' taste.
Okay - so the very definition of "Bratwurst" is a small sausage made from ... MEAT (pork specifically) - and these are made from soy. But semantics aside ... I can not rave enough about these brats. I eat them plain, on a bun, added to chili, dips, etc. They are great when cooked on the stove as well as the microwave. The spicy flavor is perfect. My mom, a health conscience omnivore prefers these to the real deal. My brother, who is a sausage fanatic, now asks for these instead. Yes - they are really that good
.
Each Boca Bratwurst Sausage provides 140 calories, 7 grams of total fat (11% of the daily value), of which 0.5 grams is saturated (2% of the DV), 32% of the daily value of sodium (760 mg), 14 grams of protein and 6 grams of carbohydrates which includes 1 gram of fiber and 2 grams of sugars.
Each pack of 4 sausages costs about $3.70 at my local grocery store. Like all Boca products, the Bratwurst are made from soy protein (check out the ingredients list here) along with various spices and all natural ingredients. The sodium content though is sky high though, which is the one thing holding this sausage back from being a 5/5. The Boca Meatless Smoked Sausages has less calories, but is also less flavorful than this. Sausage lovers - this is the way to go!
