Pringles Honey Butter Baked Wheat Snack Stix Review

Rating:

Pringles Baked Wheat Snack StikWhen I saw the new Pringles Baked Wheat Snack Stix, I had to grab a pack because they were so different from anything I associate with Pringles - they're not round, don't come in a tube and aren't potato chips. Pringle Stix are crispy cracker sticks made from baked wheat. I grabbed the only variety that I saw, which happened to be Honey Butter, but they also come in Vanilla, Crunchy Wheat and Pizza - yes none of them really sound like healthy alternatives, but they all sound delicious.

The Honey Butter variety is sweet and crispy. The sticks are quite thin, but there's just something about munching on a cracker stick that you can bite into a few times, that makes it seem long lasting and utterly satisfying as a snack. And these Honey Butter sticks are great when you munch on them with along with a cup of tea on a cold, wintery evening (I'm still finishing off Celestial Seasonings Sweet Coconut Chai Tea - read the review).

One pack of Pringles Snack Stik has 90 calories, 3.5 grams of total fat including 1.5 grams of saturated fat (5 and 7% of the recommended amount), no trans fat, low sodium with 6% of the RDA (150 mg), 2 grams of protein and 12 grams of total carbohydrates including 2 grams of sugar but no fiber. Whereas the nutrition facts aren't too bad, the ingredients list does have some cause for concern - palm oil (not hydrogenated but does add to the saturates and it occurs more than once); and the presence of MSG - didn't know food companies were still using this, and sucralose (Splenda) - I have nothing against Splenda - but must I see it in everything?!

A box of Pringles Stix cost $3.44, but each box has 10 individually wrapped servings - built in portion control which I love! Even though I would like to see them clean up the ingredients list some, I am still a fan of these Pringles Stix and look forward to trying the other varieties. The Honey Butter is for those who like sweet snacks, but if you want serious bang for your calories, check out Pepperidge Farm Pumpernickel Snack Sticks.
