Calbee Snack Salad Snapea Crisps Review

Snack Salad Snapea CrispsI've been trying out a lot of healthier snack options lately, and when I spotted a snack made from peas, you know I had to try it. So into my grocery cart went a bag of Snack Salad Original Snapea Crisps.

Snapea Crisps are pea pods baked (not fried) to be a crunchy snack. My first reaction when I tried these was, "WOW!" They are not too salty and very crunchy, which makes them fun to pop into your mouth. The texture is perfect, not too hard and only a slight hint of peas in the taste. Once I knew I liked the texture, I bought the Caesar flavor and liked them even more. I won't be shy about the fact that I ate the whole bag in two sittings (luckily it's only a 3.3 ounce serving bag)!

A 1 ounce serving of either flavor of Snack Salad Snapea Crisps has 150 calories, 8 grams of total fat (12% of the RDA), 1 gram of saturated fat (5% of the RDA), a low 5% of the RDA for sodium (125 mg), 5 grams of protein and 14 grams of total carbohydrate which includes 2 grams of fiber and less than 1 gram of sugars. I think those on a low carb diet might even be able to enjoy a serving of this. The ingredients are simply green peas, corn oil, rice, salt, calcium carbonate, and ascorbic acid (vitamin C). They are also gluten free.

I bought a 3.3 ounce bag of Calbee Snack Salad Snapea Crisps for $1.99, but Amazon.com has a pack of 12 for $16. There are 51 reviews on Amazon with an average rating of 4.5 stars - convincing evidence to give it a try. They are so good that you might be tempted to eat the entire bag at once- don't! Eating an entire bag will cost you 450 calories and 36% of the daily amount of total fat.

Another peas snack you might like is Ding Dong Mixed Nuts (read the review) which has less calories and fat per serving.
