We are not in the habit of reviewing 100 calorie pack products, because they are usually not worth the extra cash you pay for what turns out to be a small serving. However, munching on the cute (and sweet) little camel, lion, elephant, monkey, panda bear and giraffe of the Nabisco Barnum's Animals Choco Cracker brought out the inner kid in me, and I had to review these. The taste is fantastic - your kids will love them and the portion size is just right ... for kids. For you, the colored bag houses little animal cracker critters that are a delight to munch on. They are like the are like the big, fat brother of Nabisco Oreo 100 calorie packs - thick, yet crispy and airy on the inside like an animal cracker should be and, of course, they will put you in chocolate heaven for a short moment.
The fun ends way too soon as there's only about 13 small cookies per bag, just not enough for an adult snackaholic like myself. But it's great when accompanied by something else, a steaming hot cup of tea perhaps, or crumbled on top of yogurt.
Each 100 calorie pack provides 3 grams of total fat (5% of the recommended daily amount), no saturated fat or cholesterol, 115 mg of sodium (5% of the RDA), less than 1 gram of fiber (3% of the RDA), 6 grams of sugar and 1 gram of protein.
A box of 6 is usually on sale for $2.50, which is a very good deal, so if you are looking to enhance your low calorie snack options, give this a try. But do not make the mistake of thinking this can be an adult sized snack on its own - they tend to leave me wanting more ... and that might be another 100 calorie pack or something else not so nutritious. For me, when I can afford it, I'll probably stick to Annie's All Natural Honey Bunny Grahams , which have similar nutrition facts for a slightly larger portion, and a better looking (and shorter) ingredients list.
