The lure of the "low fat and made with whole grains" on the label of Uncle Wally's Smart Portion Cookies pulled me in. Additionally, they also come in 100 portion packs, which totally sold me. I bought a box (with 6 packs) of Oatmeal Cookies (my favorite kind). I tore into one of the packs and was a bit shocked that there were only about 7-8 small cookies about 1-1.25 inches in diameter.
Although they are small, they are definitely tasty and not too sweet. There seemed to be raisins in each one, and not a very strong oatmeal taste, which is actually a plus - I don't want my cookies to remind me of oatmeal.
Each 21 gram pack (7-8 cookies) provides 100 calories, 2.5 grams of total fat (4% of the RDA), no saturated fat, 3% of the RDA for sodium, 1 gram of protein and 16 grams of carbohydrates which includes 6 grams of sugar and 2 grams of fiber (8% of the RDA). The ingredients list is short, sweet and o the point - oats, enriched wheat flour (would have loved to see whole wheat), sugar, raisins, safflower oil etc.
Uncle Wally's Smart Portion Oatmeal Raisins Cookies gets an A+ for nutrition, but if you are a serious cookie munster, this small potioned pack might not be enough for you. I'm not really big on cookies, so I didn't mind this portion as a small snack with my nightly tea. Uncle Wally's Smart Portion Muffins are also great (read the review).
