South Beach Diet Peanut Butter Cookies Review

Rating:

South Beach Diet CookiesCall me weird, but I do not like peanut butter and I am not a big fan of cookies. I will eat them if they are there, but I don't crave them. Instead God blessed me with a love of chips! But South Beach Diet decided to try and make a better version of cookies for you 'sweet snack-a-holics.' I was pretty impressed with the ingredients list: whole wheat flour, real peanut butter, vegetable oil - nothing much that you wouldn't use yourself in baking. They also use acesulfame-K, Splenda and maltitol as sweeteners to replace much of the sucrose. The good thing is that these cookies actually taste good! No weird aftertaste. They have a peanut buttery taste but not too overwhelming, and it is still sweet.

The cookies come in a box with 6 2-cookie packs. Each pack of 2 cookies is 100 calories, 5 grams of fat, 0.5 grams of saturated fat, 4 grams of fiber (16% of the daily recommended amount), 3 grams of sugars and 3 grams of sugar alcohols.

Overall, the nutrition is not bad, and I love the built in portion control. But 2 cookies giving 100 calories?! I would rather have 10 potato chips. Each box of 6 packs (12 cookies) is $3.00. That's more expensive than many of the cookies out there, however, if "once you start eating cookies, you can't stop" and you're watching your carbs - then this might be for you.
