Kettle chips are a nice alternative to the thin flaky potato chips you know and love. Lays has made a reduced fat version of their Kettle Cooked Chips, which is described as extra crunchy - and that it is. They are thicker with a gritty texture and very crunchy - even the word "crunchy" sounds like it could beat the regular thin "crispy" Lays if they were to battle each other in a fight. I love Kettle chips, but they are not all low calories, so be on the lookout.
A 1 ounce serving of Lays Reduced Fat Kettle Cooked Chips (about 18 chips) has 140 calories, 6 grams of total fat which is 9% of the RDA, 0.5 grams of saturated fat (3% of the RDA), a low 7% of sodium (160 milligrams), 2 grams of protein and 19 grams of total carbohydrates, which includes 2 grams of fiber (6% of the RDA). The ingredients in Lays Reduced Fat Kettle Cooked Chips are potatoes, sunflower oil and salt (sea salt is used in the original version). An 8 ounce bag cost $2.50 which is very reasonable. If you are having the crunchy munchies, then this is a better alternative to regular potato chips.
