Corazonas Margarita Lime Tortilla ChipsCorazonas Chips are unlike other typical chips because they include heart healthy plant sterols. They say, "all of our chips are made with plant sterols and have been proven to lower cholesterol. We use only heart-healthy oils, plus other great ingredients like whole oats and whole grains (our tortilla chips) and a frying process that helps our potato chips have 40% less fat than regular potato chips." The brand was introduced to me at a post-marathon event, so when I spotted Corazonas Margarita Lime Tortilla Chips in my local supermarket, it was a no-brainer that I would pick it up.

The chips appear similar to regular tortilla chips, and they have a dulled crunch probably from the addition of whole oats. There is a slight chewy texture that's a reminder of how heart healthy these chips are. The lime flavor was very tart and strong, but I liked the unusual texture of these chips the most.

A one ounce serving provides 140 calories and 6 grams of fat, with only 0.5 gram saturated fat, plus 6% of the daily value for sodium. Each serving has 20 grams of carbohydrates, 3 of which are dietary fiber, and 2 grams of protein. Despite their claims about less fat than regular potato chips, it has a similar amount to Food Should Taste Good MultiGrain Tortilla Chips, Baked Tostitos Scoops and Tostitos MultiGrain Tortilla Chips.

I paid $2.49 for a 7 ounce bag at Kroger. The lime flavor was a bit strong for my taste and while the texture does getting some used to - it did eventually grow on me. I really appreciate the fiber and heart healthy ingredients (and plkant sterols) in these chips, which put this snack a notch above the rest and make these Corazonas Margarita Lime Tortilla Chips a pretty good buy.
