Cabot 50Percent Light Vermont Cheddar Cheese Review
I have never really thought about the calories in cheese, but just in case you were like me, I'm here to tell you that 1 ounce (28 grams) of cheddar cheese can contribute 114 calories, 10 grams of fat and 6 grams of saturated fat, which is 30% of your daily allowance. I'm not saying cheese is a bad thing - just making you aware, in fact, I love cheese! But here's another option if you want to cut some calories where you can, Cabot 50% light, naturally aged, Vermont Cheddar Cheese. There is absolutely no difference in taste between this light cheddar cheese, and the full 30% saturated fat cheese, and I can't express how much I loved it. And I guess I'm not alone, since apparently "Cabot cheddars have won every major award for taste." And there is an unexpected bonus with this reduced fat cheese, 0 grams of lactose per serving! *Lovely for us lactose intolerant folks!

So the all important nutrition facts for Cabot Light Cheddar Cheese: 1 serving is 1 ounce (28 grams) and contributes 70 calories, 4.5 grams total fat (7% of the daily value), 3 grams of saturated fat (16%), 170 mg of sodium (7%), 8 grams of protein and 20% vitamin A. The nutrition facts are very similar to regular cheddar cheese, except less calories and fat. This cheese is a bit more expensive than other cheddars. An 8 ounce block of Cabot's costs about $3.00 in the grocery stores, and you can also buy it online at Cabot's online store [link]. I loved this, and this will probably be my 'cheese of choice' from now on.
