Rokit Fuel Cherry Almond Cereal

I saw Rokit Fuel products when I was looking around for some highly portable products that could provide energy when I'm on long hikes, A friend of mine swears by this brand, so being the curious bee that I am, I got some information and samples from the company to try out for a review. One of the first products I tried was Rokit Fuel Cherry Almond Cereal.

This cereal comes individually packaged in an 89 gram pint-sized container. The packaging looks totally bad-ass. "Not for Wussies" it says, and I ain't no wuss! Clearly I couldn't eat this cereal on just any regular old day, so I waited until the morning of a 4 hour, hilly hike and fueled up.

First thing I noticed was it has plenty of oats. I added unsweetened almond milk, stirred it around and got to tasting. It's very sweet, something I didn't expect, but also really good. When you chomp on a piece of cherry, its such a rockstar moment - the taste is phenomenal - sweet but with a little hint of tartness. Too bad there's not more (cherries) because it's definitely the star of the show!

While the taste is pretty decent, it's the wholesome ingredients that really rocked my world. Rolled Oats, Pure Cane Dark Brown Sugar, Almonds, Amaranth, Rye Flakes, Tart Cherries, Chia Seeds, Whole and Milled Flax Seed, Sesame Seeds, Bee Pollen, Real Salt, Gotu Kola, Maca Root, Pure Almond Extract.

Each 89 gram container of Rokit Fuel Cherry Almond Cereal provides 360 calories, 12 grams of total fat, 1 gram of which is saturated fat (18% and 5% of the daily value), 9 grams of fiber (36% of the DV), 23 grams of sugars and 10 grams of protein. I'm not a huge fan of sweet cereals and in this case, I think it was a little too sweet, but this product is marketed as Endurance Food, not necessarily something to eat when you're trying to lose weight.

I received samples from the company, but it can be purchased online through Rokit.com where a 6 pack cereal cup costs $17.94 - so almost $3.00 each, which is a bit pricey for me, but then again, I would probably only be eating this once a week before a major athletic activity so it might be worth it.

What do you think - have you tried this any Rokit Fuel products?
