I love brownies, but with the average brownie weighing in at about 250 calories and lots of fat (and little else) for a 2 inch square, it's often not the best choice of dessert. That's where Glenny's 75% Organic Brownies will come in handy.
Glenny's makes a lot of low-fat, low-calorie, and high-fiber snacks like soy crisps, lower-calorie marshmallow treats, and many varieties of snack bar. The brownies are available in three flavors - chocolate, peanut butter (with chocolate), and blondie. My favorite is the peanut butter; the chocolate has a strange flavor that I can't seem to place (mineral, perhaps?), and the blondie was just plain bad! The peanut butter flavor, on the other hand, is quite enjoyable (although it still has a hint of the strange flavor that overpowers the chocolate). The brownie weights in at a pretty hefty 41 grams and is studded with peanut butter chips. It does look a little bit scary (it's a really dark, almost burnt-looking brown), but that shouldn't stop you from trying it! The chocolate flavor in the peanut butter bar is better than that in the regular chocolate flavor, but again it does take a bit of getting used to.
Glenny's Brownies come pre-portioned into a 41 gram, 100 calorie bar (no more eating an entire pan of brownies), which provides only 4 grams of total fat (6% of the daily value) including 1 gram of saturated fat (2.5% of the daily value), 100 mg of sodium (4% of the daily value), 5 grams of protein, and 13 grams of carbohydrates which includes 11 grams of sugar and a whopping 7 grams of fiber (20% of the daily value).
For a satisfying, chocolaty treat, I'll take this brownie over a monster calorie bomb any day. These brownies are available at Glenny's website, $ 18.28 for an order of 12.
