There is no doubt Jimmy Dean has some delicious food products out there, however their nutritional values are just crazy - and not in the crazy-good kind of way we'd like it to be. Thanks to more health-conscious customers, Jimmy Dean now carries a "light" product line - their D-Light Breakfast Sandwiches and Bowls.
I tried the Jimmy Dean D-Lights Turkey Sausage Bowl which includes egg whites, potatoes, turkey sausage crumbles and reduced-fat cheese. The scrambled egg whites had a sort of rubbery texture - a similar complaint can be found in the review of Jimmy Dean D-Lights Black Forest Ham Breakfast Sandwich, but the potatoes were fairly good although they could use a little bit more flavor. The turkey sausage and reduced-fat cheese were delicious. Everything combined together actually made a decent breakfast and I have to say that Jimmy Dean pulled it off.
The nutrition of the D-Lights Turkey Sausage Breakfast Bowl is much better than the regular ones with half the calories and half the fat. One bowl has 245 calories, 7 grams of fat (11% of the RDA), 3.5 grams of saturated fat (17.5% of the RDA, 19 grams of carbohydrates, of which 2 grams are dietary fiber (8% RDA) and 21 grams of protein.
I purchased this at Wal-Mart for $2.99. I'm still borderline about whether I would buy this product again. The taste is pretty good, and while the nutrition facts are not stellar due to the high saturated fat, it certainly was filling and much better than some other breakfast options out there - including the fat and cholstrol laden regular Jimmy Dean breakfast bowls - dietTrash!
