Wegmans Lite Wheat Bread Review
Lately, I have become quite attached to using Arnold Light Wheat Bread to make my sandwiches, however, sometimes the price tag can be a bit steep, so I decided to try out a store brand, good old Wegman's Brand "Food You Feel Good About Bread" Lite Wheat Bread, as a cheaper alternative.
Usually, I am a big fan of name-brand bread, but this product really showed me that store brands can be just as good! Although the bread lacked the nice nuttiness that I associate with the Arnold brand, it was pleasantly soft, and still held the distinct flavor of wheat bread. It was not as dense as the Arnold bread, but the softness resonated that nice fresh bread feeling, which lasted for days after I purchased the loaf. It held up well to both cold cuts and peanut butter, and would be dangerously good munched on it's own, sans topping!

Each 2-slice serving of Wegmans Lite Wheat Bread provides 80 calories, 0.5 grams of total fat, no saturated fat, 9% of the daily value for sodium (210 mg), 4 grams of protein and 19 grams of carbohydrates which includes an impressive 5 grams of fiber (18% of the DV) and 2 grams of sugars. The ingredients list start with enriched (unbleached) flour (don't expect "lite" wheat breads to start with whole grains), but wheat does make several appearances in the list in the form of wheat gluten, wheat bran, and stone ground whole wheat flour. There are no artificial sweeteners (some breads do sneak them in), as they opted to use brown sugar and high fructose corn syrup (HFCS) which was the 2nd to last ingredient.
This loaf retails for $2.49 at Wegmans, which is a store largely based in New York and Pennsylvania. I would definitely recommend this product if there is a Wegmans near you!
Side note: Wegmans.com is a FABULOUS resource to look up nutrition facts and ingredients list of food products. It is my first stop because there aren't many places that have ingredients list online.
