Manna Organics Fruit & Nut Manna Bread Review
The front of the packaging for Manna Organics Fruit & Nut Manna Bread reads like the healthy, wholesome bread I would like to make at home ... if I were the bread making type (I'm not). 100% sprouted whole grain; high fiber; yeast free, organic. Then a look at the ingredients list reveals all wholesome, natural ingredients that I would love to include in my own homemade bread ... sprouted organic wheat kernels, filtered water, organic raisins, organic dates (organic dates, organic oat flour), organic almonds, organic cashews, organic hazelnuts, organic cinnamon, organic nutmeg.

But I will confess, this bread sat in my freezer for probably a month before my dad came for a visit and decided he wanted to try it. We hadn't planned ahead, so he just took it out of the freezer and put it in the microwave (2 minutes to heat up the entire bread and then 1 more minute to make it a little warmer). He cut it in 7 slices (the recommended serving slices) and reached for a slice. "Tanya, this is so good" he said. "You have to try it." I said, "Really ... okay." And he was totally spot on!
I ate a big slice with no spread to really get the flavors. First off, it's a little sweet, but not a too much so - and totally expected since this is a "fruit & nut" bread. The texture was very moist and dense, sort of like a bread pudding, and of course, you could taste the ingredients - the fruit is all crushed up but chunks of almonds are all over. I could have used a little more cinnamon - but I'm just nitpicking here - this bread is so gosh darn good!

The nutrition facts show that each 2 ounce slice of Manna Organics Fruit & Nut Manna Bread provides 160 calories, 16 grams of sugars, 24% of the daily value for fiber and 6 grams of protein.
Clearly, I wouldn't eat more than 1 slice of this at a sitting because of the amount of sugars - but notice there are not added sugars. I'm not even sure what would go well with this - my dad rocked his with Philadelphia Garden Vegetable Light Cream Cheese, but I would probably go with Laughing Cow Spreadable Cheese Wedges (Light Creamy Swiss) or Vermont Butter & Cheese Creamery Fromage Blanc 0%.
Mannna Organics Bread is free of salt, no oils, no sweeteners, no leavening agents. A case of 8 loves of Manna Organics Fruit & Nut Manna Bread cost $27.20 at their online store, which makes it a little over $3.00 per loaf. The company sent me some of their bread products to try out, and this is one of my favorites.
