Tortillas are so simple, yet there are so many varieties out there and the taste and nutrition varies wildly as well, depending on the brand you happen to pick up. LaTortilla Factory Whole Wheat Low Carb Low Fat Tortillas got a positive review, so when I saw La Tortilla Factory Hand Made Style Yellow Corn Tortillas, I figured that this should be good as well.
La Tortilla Factory's unique creation offers the soft, flexible texture of flour tortillas with the authentic corn flavor of yellow corn tortillas due to the "unique blend of corn and wheat" in this hybrid tortilla. I loved it and can honestly say I have never had anything quite like it - very hard to describe the unique taste, but rest assured, this is quite ... yum
!. They are somewhat small, but they are also only 90 calories a piece and contain no partially hydrogenated oils, which seem to make their way onto the ingredient list of one too many tortillas these days.
Each La Tortilla Factory Hand Made Style Yellow Corn Tortilla provides only 90 calories, 1 gram of total fat, 8% of the daily value for sodium, 1 gram of fiber, no sugars and 5 grams of protein. The ingredients list is rather simply consisting mainly of water, stone ground corn masa flour, wheat gluten and less than 2% of seasonings, aluminum free leavening and a few other things.
La Tortilla Factory also makes a White Corn and a Chipotle version that I am itching to get my hands on. These tortillas may be somewhat small, but they are packed with a unique flavor that I would like to experience again, and my $2.49 for 8 tortillas was money well spent.
