The benefits of water have been shouted from the rooftops for decades. "It makes you more energetic, boosts your metabolism, increases blood flow to the nether regions! It reduces hot flashes and makes your children able to calculate geometrical calculations!" We've gotten the message; we all should be drinking more water. Still, drinking more than a cup or 2 of water everyday sometimes feels so ... forced. Flavored water and diet drinks make it a bit easier to fill your quota without expanding your waistline, and Welch's Living Lightly Diet Juices line with that idea in mind.
There are 3 flavors available: Black Cherry, Peach/Pear, and Pomegranate/Berry. I went for the Black Cherry, as I wanted the simplest flavor. I unscrewed the top, took a sip, and ... BLEH! I barely swallowed a mouthful. This has that EXACT cherry flavor that is in cough syrup and kid's medicines. It tastes nothing like black cherries, maraschino cherries, or any kind of real fruit. It's sweet, but that medicinal flavor penetrates and tarnishes anything good about the rest of it. But like a good little girl, I held my nose and swallowed the rest - I'm loath to waste something I've spent money on. That is the only reason that I was able to get all of this down.
One 16 ounce bottle (2 servings) provides 20 calories, 40 mg sodium, and nothing else worth mentioning. A pack of 4 cost me about $4.50 - rather expensive for a water replacement. I would never buy this again, and although the other flavors intrigue me, I'll be waiting for the memory of this to fade into the past.
