I'm not who usually drinks orange juice (or any kind of juice) in the morning, but I know plenty of people who can't start their day without it. My boyfriend is somewhere in the middle: he buys OJ but drinks it sporadically, usually on weekends. Luckily for me, he's always up for sharing, so I was able to try out some of his Tropicana Trop50 Pomegranate Blueberry juice.
Tropicana Trop50 Pulp Free Orange Juice was reviewed here, and here's what Lizabeth had to say about it: "PureVia is a stevia-derived natural no calorie sweetener. Note that this is not orange juice - it is made from orange juice and only contains 42% juice. When you start adding water and sweeteners to lower the calorie count, which is what Tropicana did with Trop50, well then, it's just an orange juice flavored beverage."
The same is true with this stuff - although it tastes great, it does taste a little watered-down. Still, with flavors like pomegranate and blueberry, more might well be too much! I thought the blueberry flavor was perfect, and the pomegranate added something special. Just in terms of taste, this was great (and strong).
Each 8 ounce serving of Tropicana Trop50 (Pomegranate Blueberry) provides 50 calories, 11 grams of sugar, no fat, protein or fiber. There is also 100% of the daily value for vitamin C, and 10% of the DV for vitamin E.
This only contains 42% juice, and the ingredients list reads, filtered water, apple juice concentrate, pomegranate juice concentrate, grape juice concentrate, blueberry juice concentrate, natural flavors, malic acid, citric acid, ascorbic acid (vitamin C), Reb A (Purevia brand) and vitamin E acetate (Vitamin E). So this is essentially juice concentrate diluted with lots of water and an added sweetener.
At $3.49 for a 59-ounce container, this was more expensive than regular OJ, and I actually liked this much to my surprise. If you're looking to cut down on your sugar intake, then this is a flavorful alternative.
