When Click approached me to try their beverage and review it - good or bad - I have to say I was intrigued. "A protein based, espresso, all-in-one energy drink - that makes you feel that you are doing something good for yourself one cup at a time" is how Click Espresso Protein Drink is described ... how could I resist trying this!
First I checked out the nutrition facts. A 2 scoop serving provides 120 calories, 1.5 grams of total fat, 7 grams of sugars and 15 grams of protein. Not bad at all. There is also 15%-30% of the daily value for MANY vitamins & minerals. The ingredients list starts with Calcium caseinate, instant espresso coffee, fructose, cocoa (processed with alkali), nonfat milk ... sucralose is later on and then a whole host of the added vitamins & minerals.
I was eager to try it, so I followed the basic directions of adding 2 scoops of the Click Espresso Protein Powder to a shaker bottle (which they thoughtfully sent me along with the sample), along with about 13 ounces of water. I shook and shook, and was rewarded with a delicious beverage. It's not too sweet, and there is a strong mocha, sort of chocolatey flavor. I really enjoyed it. No after taste whatsoever. The amount of caffeine in this is equivalent to 12-14 ounces of brewed coffee. And the caffeine is probably the only reason why I don't drink this everyday (and the same reason why I don't drink coffee everyday). Still, I really liked this and it is one of the BEST tasting protein powders I have tried.
Click was developed by Greg and Beth Smith, a Fresno, California couple who own a small chain of women's fitness centers. I can definitely see a niche of fitness folks taking their protein power from this. Click is available at Amazon.com, $20.94 for a 16 ounce container. There are 31 reviews at the time of me writing this, and they have a 5 star rating average!
