Unlike most of my fellow studying peers, I try to avoid caffeinated drinks because they make me jittery at night. As a result, I prefer herbal teas with the huge variety of calorie free, caffeine free flavors. This holiday season has seen the release of lots of seasonal varieties, and I picked up this Celestial Seasonings Sugar Plum Spice Holiday Tea to try.
Upon brewing a teabag, the boiled water develops a deep magenta color and sweet smell. The tea was so sweet that it tasted as though it had sugar, but amazingly, all that flavor comes from the natural herbs that are in the bag. I really like the sweetness, but it is offset by the spicy aspect of this tea that trails after each sip. Each teabag is so chock full of flavor that the taste is still fairly significant if you choose to steep the teabag again.
One 1.6 ounce box of Celestial Seasonings Sugar Plum Spice Holiday Tea with 20 teabags cost $2.12 at Wal-Mart, and each bag makes an 8 ounce serving. There's lots of flavor, but there are no calories, fat, sodium, carbohydrates, or protein. The ingredients are hibiscus, roasted barley, roasted chicory, rosehips, chamomile, natural plum and cinnamon flavors with other natural flavors, ginger, roasted carob and cardamom.
I love the aroma and taste of this tea, and though it's a holiday tea, I think it would be an excellent beverage any time of year. If you missed out on this holiday tea this year, don't forget to look for it when the holidays roll around again!
