I've grown to tolerate that distinct diet soda taste in exchange for 0 calories - I won't tell you diet Coca Cola tastes the same as regular Coke, but drink enough and you'll get used to the differences. There was a recent promotion from Diet Dr Pepper giving away free coupons for their soda, claiming that their soda didn't taste like diet. I was up for the challenge, so I decided to try Diet Dr Pepper when I got a coupon for a free one in the mail.
Diet Dr Pepper looks like the typical cola, but it has such a ... unique taste. To me it's like cough medicine - and indeed, their diet version does taste like the regular version - but that's not necessarily a good thing. I just don't like you Dr. Pepper - so I guess I'm biased in this review. Are there any Dr. Pepper fans out there? The taste is just too weird for me. Still, the ads were right - Diet Dr. Pepper does taste like the regular one to me.
As with most diet sodas, there are no calories, and a 2 Liter bottle costs around $1.00. I'm no proponent of colas, but if you are weaning yourself off of regular sodas - and you're a Dr. Pepper fan - then go for the diet version. The taste is very similar.
Since I'm the opposite of a caffeine fiend, I don't think I would pick this one over a caffeine free diet soda though. I did find a Caffeine Free Diet Dr Pepper on the Dr Pepper website so that would be a better option for me if I could find it at the stores.
