Diet Mountain Dew Review

Diet Mountain DewFor some reason, although my parents would let me have some soda when I was younger, they would never let me have Mountain Dew - maybe because of the huge caffeine content and probably the sugar too. Of course, that only made me want it more, and when I finally did have it, that was the only brand I wanted. Of course, these days, I don't drink soda often, and when I do, I always turn to Diet Mountain Dew.

To me, this is one of the best soda flavors. Sure, it's sweet, and sure, it's artificial, but boy does it satisfy a craving. The taste is citrusy but with an extra ounce of pep, and the fact that the liquid isn't dark like colas and therefore is less likely to stain my teeth is a nice bonus. I find this to be incredibly refreshing, perfect for summer (but after I've hydrated properly with real water).

A 12-ounce can of Diet Mountain Dew provides 2% of the RDA for sodium and 55 mg of caffeine, which is more than in a Diet Coke. Naturally, there is no calories, and the sweeteners used are aspartame & sucralose (Splenda).

That caffeine content doesn't come close to the amount of caffeine in most espressos, however, if you're looking for a pick-me-up, this could be a good choice. Cans cost $1.00 individually from several convenience stores around me, but a 12-pack costs about $4.19.

Do you have a go-to brand of diet soda?
