You may think that chocolate and soda go about as well together as ... whipped cream and Brussels sprouts. Still, because I had tried Metromint Chocolate Mint Water and liked it, I thought perhaps a chocolate soda incarnation could be a good thing. A grocery store near where I live carries single cans of many Canfield's Sodas for just 79 cents, so I felt like I could buy a serving of Canfield's Diet Cherry Chocolate Fudge Soda without making a huge commitment should it turn out to be horrible.
I popped the top of this soda and took a sip. My first thought was, Wow, this really does taste like chocolate! My second thought was, I really do like this stuff! The chocolate flavor wasn't completely natural, but then again, putting chocolate in a soda isn't exactly natural either, right?! I liked the combination of chocolate and cherry (it was a way richer flavor than in many sodas), and I even felt sort of like I was having dessert. So much so, in fact, that I can't wait to try this with ice cream for a chocolate cherry ice cream float!
This is a diet soda, so it has no calories or sugar. This stuff is sweetened with aspartame, so those who avoid the sweetener should steer clear. I really liked this soda a lot and the flavor was really great. I'll definitely be on the lookout for this flavor again. Do you drink flavored sodas like orange, grape or pineapple? What's your favorite flavor?
