ThinkThin Chunky Peanut Butter Bar Review

Rating:

ThinkThin BarThinkThin Bars are all natural, sugar free (and might I add artificial sweetener free), gluten free, high protein (20 grams) and only has 2 effective net carbs. There are a few different varieties of ThinkThin (and none of the names sound "thin" to me), like white chocolate chip, dark chocolate, chocolate mudslide and chocolate fudge - there seems to be a "chocolate theme" to these bars. There is also creamy peanut butter and crunchy peanut butter - which is the one I tried. And wouldn't you know it - the crunchy peanut butter bar has a chocolate coating on the outside.

I probably need to say up front that I am not a big fan of peanut butter (maybe Ann should have been the one to do this review instead of me), but that didn't pose a big problem since there was only a hint of a peanut butter taste. There was however, that sticky, tacky, cloying texture that I find peanut butter has. Thankfully the bar wasn't too sweet, because there was no added sugar. They did add sugar alcohols (glycerol and maltitol) - and quite a lot of it too (13 grams per bar). I thought this bar was okay in taste, but since this is "snack bar review week" I must say that this is not going to be one of the top contenders.

One ThinkThin Chunky Peanut Butter Bar is 60 grams (most others are 40 or 48 grams) and has 210 calories, 8 grams of total fat and 3 grams of saturated fat, which are both 14% of the daily value, no trans fat, 9% of the daily value of sodium (200 mg), 20 grams of protein and 26 grams of total carbohydrates which includes 1 gram of fiber (4% of the DV), no sugar and 13 grams of sugar alcohols.

This bar weighs 60 grams and so has more calories than most of the other bars reviewed, but believe me, you are not losing out much if you get a 48 gram bar instead - well, you are getting less calories and fat.

And, if I had time I would post the ingredients list of this "natural" bar and the Gnu Foods natural bar. Since I don't have time, you can see the ingredients lists for Think Thin here and for Gnu Foods Chocolate Brownie Bar here. There is a remarkable difference in the ingredients used and in the length of the ingredients list.
