Quaker Chewy Bars with Protein Review

Rating:

Quaker Chewy Bars with ProteinMy local Albertsons supermarket was having a 10 for $10 sale for Quaker Chewy Bars (a box of these chewy bars are usually about $3.19). The Quaker Chewy Bars With Protein had just recently come out, so I decided to give them a try. I personally LOVE Peanut Butter so I bought a box. I actually only bought one flavor because I wasn't expecting these bars to be any good, but little did I know how much I would love them!

When I had my first bite, I could definitely taste the peanut butter that was enhanced by the sweetness of the bar. I could also see the peanuts and the peanut chips clearly - it was nice being able to recognize what I was eating. You can actually taste a difference between these bars and the original chewy bars since these bars have a slightly gritty after-taste (not unpleasant though).

These bars actually reminded me of the South Beach Diet Protein Bars but in a smaller serving and a little sweeter. Each 28 gram bar provides 110 calories, 3 grams of total fat including 0.5 grams of saturated fat (5% and 3% of the daily value), 5 grams of protein and 17 grams of total carbohydrates, which includes 6 grams of sugar and 1 gram of fiber (4% of the RDA).

I personally thought the South Beach Diet Bars are a little bit bland, so these Quaker bars are a nice change. Still, the bars are rather small, and 5 grams of protein doesn't exactly make this a "high protein bar." This is more of a small, but delicious, portable, on-the-go snack for me.
