LaraBar Cherry Pie Bar Review
This is the last bar to be reviewed in Snack Bar Review Week, and I think I saved the best for last - unknowingly. The Lara Cherry Pie Bar tastes delicious
. I love it, Love it, LOVE it! I don't think anyone can accuse this of tasting like a candy bar. The ingredients are simply dates, almonds and unsweetened cherries. That's it! The bar is chewy, moist, heavy on the dates and cherries and an added crunch from the almonds. It's a good source of fiber (18% of the RDA), gluten free, dairy free and soy free AND (as if that wasn't enough), you get 1 serving of fruit from this bar. Did I already mention that it's delicious?!
The Lara Cherry Pie bar is 48 grams with 190 calories, 8 grams of saturated fat which is 13% of the RDA, 0.5 grams of saturated fat (3% of the RDA), no trans fat, cholesterol or sodium, 4 grams of protein and 28 grams of total carbohydrates, which includes 21 grams of sugars and 18% of the RDA for fiber (4 grams).
This may not be the lowest calorie bar, but consider that it is totally natural and has only 3 ingredients. To decrease the calories means using less of any of those ingredients, which will translate to a smaller bar (or rather a bar that weighs less). I wouldn't change a thing! One bar cost $1.29 at the time of purchase from Whole Foods. It's also available at their online store [link] or at Amazon.com [link], but it was actually cheaper at the store. You better know I will be buying the Cherry Pie bar again (and I'll be trying the other varieties too).
