Kellogg's Cocoa Rice Krispies Cereal and Milk Bars Review
A cereal and milk bar?! I thought, yeah right! There is no possible way they could get the taste of milk in the bar - is there? Well, they did it! Cocoa Rice Krispies Cereal Bars are delicious! These bars are sweet, 'krispy' and nutritious.
There is a regular 'Rice Krispy' bar, and then at the bottom, there is about an 1/8 inch thick white solid layer, which I'm guessing is supposed to be the milk layer (the white color was the clue). While this is milk in the traditional sense of the word, the ingredients does list condensed and skim milk, so there is some taste of milk when you bite into the bar. I like this idea which I believe was first developed by food science students at the University of Wisconsin in 2000.

You would think that 'cocoa' aka 'chocolate' Rice Krispies would be loaded with sugar especially since they do have a sweet taste, but I was pleasantly surprised to discover that there are only 12 grams of sugar in each bar. Furthermore, each bar contributes 100 calories, 2.5 grams of fat, 2 grams of which are saturated (10% of the RDA). But there are partially hydrogenated oils so there is probably some trans fat (just less than 0.5 grams per serving).
A box with 6 bars cost $2.25 which is very economical, and I would probably buy this again - especially if they reformulate to remove the trans fat ... I mean partially hydrogenated oils.
