Clif Maple Nut Bar Review

Rating:

Clif Maple Nut BarAfter reading Emily's Clif Lemon Vanilla & Cashew Nectar Bar Review, I knew that the next time I was topping up my nutrition bar stash, I was going to include a few Clif Bars. I decided to try the Clif Maple Nut variety, because, while I usually go for peanut butter and/or chocolate flavors, I wanted to branch out and try something different.

NUTRITION FACTS
Serving Size: 1 bar (68 grams)
Calories: 240
Total Fat: 5 grams, 8%
Saturated Fat: 1 grams, 4%
Sodium: 220 mg, 9%
Carbohydrates: 42 grams
Fiber: 5 grams, 20%
Sugars: 20 grams
Protein: 10 grams

The thing I simultaneously love and hate about Clif bars is that they're so big and chewy. They taste delicious (way more like dessert than nutrition bars), but they're also higher in protein and unfortunately, higher in sugar, than many other nutrition bars. I've decided to treat them as a dessert, albeit one with some redeeming nutritional value, so that's what I'm doing here. This bar is fantastic. It tastes rich and chewy; the maple flavor makes it taste like a dense, sweet cake without being overly sweet. The nutty flavors balance the sweet maple perfectly.

Each huge 68-gram Clif Maple Nut Bar provides 240 calories, 5 grams of total fat, 1 gram of which is saturated, 9% of the DV for sodium (220 mg), 5 grams of fiber (20% of the DV), 20 grams of sugars and 10 grams of protein.

The ingredients list is all natural and 70% organic. I purchased a Clif Maple Nut Bar for $1.89, and it was well worth it. This is not something I would buy if I were on a strict diet looking to loose weight, since it has too much sugar and too many calories. However, when I'm active - such as running long distances or biking, then I will absolutely be using this to fuel me up.
