Clif Iced Gingerbread Bar Review
It can be difficult not to be seduced by the calorie-laden treats, especially during the holiday season. Nutrition bars come in handy because the calorie content is readily available, and if you choose a substantial bar, it will help curb your cravings for something diet buster. I love sampling different bars, and when I saw this limited edition, seasonal flavor of Clif Iced Gingerbread Bar, I could not resist picking one up.
I was a little hesitant because I am not a big fan of Luna Bars, which are also made by Clif, but it turned out to be an excellent decision. It was more like a soft, rectangular gingerbread cookie than a bar, with white frosting drizzled over the top. It was moist and delicious, and I actually liked it better than regular gingerbread cookies. It was perfectly sweet and dense like an oatmeal cookie, and I would have never known it was made from all-natural, healthy ingredients.

This bar was perfect for after my workout, as it contained the optimal 4:1 ratio of carbohydrates to protein, which helps muscles to best recover from vigorous exercise. Though I prefer eating real meals to eating bars, this could serve as a perfect breakfast or mini-meal on the run. Each Hefty 68 gram bar contains 6 grams of fat, 1.5 grams of which is saturated (9% and 8% of the daily value), 160 mg of sodium (7% of the DV), 43 grams of carbohydrates which includes 4 grams of fiber (16% of the DV), 22 grams of sugars, and an impressive 10 grams of protein. For those with nut allergies, the ingredient list includes pecans, though I did not notice any in the bar.
I am going to be stocking up on these bars before they go out of circulation and I won't be able to find them anymore. Though they likely will not become a part of my daily diet because of the high sugars and I mostly use bars only when I am in a rush, I will definitely be keeping these on hand for after those tough workouts or when I have a long wait between meals.
