Robert's American Gourmet Pirate's Booty Review
Because I enjoy continuous eating, snacks consisting of multiple small, low calorie pieces are more preferable to heavy snacks so that I can eat a lot at a time. When I first saw this bag of Robert's American Gourmet Pirate's Booty, I was confused by what the contents were but curious about the lower caloric content compared to typical potato chips.
The bag says that the Robert's American Gourmet Pirate's Booty "puffed rice and corn" is flavored "with aged white cheddar," a flavoring that is reminiscent of popcorn. Upon opening the bag, I indeed found little pieces of puffed rice and corn shaped like popcorn but slightly larger. The white cheddar flavor fit well, and each bite had a nice soft crunch. The folks at Taquitos Snacks say that they could easily devour an entire bag in one sitting, and while I liked it too - I wouldn't go that far.

One serving is 1 ounce which provides 130 calories, 5 grams of total fat, 1 gram of which is saturated (8% and 2% of the recommended daily amount), 150 milligrams sodium (6% of the RDA), 2 grams of protein and 18 grams of carbohydrates, which includes 1 gram dietary fiber and no sugar. They are also "All Natural" as stated on the packaging.
I paid $2.00 for a 4 ounce bag at Whole Foods, and it's also available online at Amazon.com ($26.15 for a pack of 12). The price for that amount of product isn't necessarily family-friendly, but for a person who only eats these salty snacks sporadically, it's a fairly good deal.
Baked Cheetos have much the same nutritional stats, but the ingredients are vastly different, with Pirate's Booty being much shorter and no MSG.
