Cottage cheese is something I have pretty regularly. I usually go with Lactaid Cottage Cheese, but when I saw Friendship All Natural Digestive Health Cottage Cheese With Pro-active Nutrients in the grocery store, I was was really intrigued and so I picked up a tub for $3.99, more than I usually spend on cottage cheese, but I was hoping for the best.
I love the way most cottage cheese tastes, and this is no exception. It's thick but not too dry, like Friendship All Natural 1% Whipped Cottage Cheese - for me, just the right amount of liquid is crucial for a good cottage cheese. The curds are a good size (not too big, not too small), too. This also doesn't taste too salty, which is wonderful. It's great alone, and even better with sugar or Splenda and cinnamon if you're looking for a sweet treat. I've used this to make pancakes, and spreading a little on an egg/egg white omelet is divine.
Each 1/2 cup serving of Friendship All Natural Digestive Health Cottage Cheese With Pro-active Nutrients provides 90 calories, 6% and 8% of the daily value for total and saturated fat, 15% of the DV for sodium, 3 grams of fiber, 2 grams of sugar and 14 grams of protein.
I love that this is a low-calorie, high-protein way of getting a little extra calcium. The little bit of fat makes it taste richer, too, and the fiber is satiating. This is on my grocery list for sure.
