Breyers Smooth & Dreamy Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Ice Cream Sandwiches

I had a box of Weight Watchers Smart Ones Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Sundaes in my hand, all set to go home with me from the supermarket, when I turned around and spotted a new, blue box sitting upon the frigid shelves. Uh-oh, my new little acquaintance was Breyer's Smooth & Dreamy Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Ice Cream Sandwiches and I was eager to discover if they would become friend or foe. And a note on the Breyers 'Smooth & Dreamy' - Breyers changed the names of their Slow Churned & Double Churned line to this late in May 2010- but they say, the formulations haven't changed.

When I first popped open my enticing treat, I thought that Easter had hopped into town a little bit early this year. Not that this matters, but contrary to what the picture on the box might lead you to believe, these little sweet sandwiches are in the shape of an Easter egg. Once I got over that odd discovery, I took the much anticipated first bite. Yum! Creamy ice cream with a faint cookie dough flavor is sandwiched between two thin and firm, yet soft and chewy chocolate chip cookies, bringing the whole sandwich together, like nothing else could. The filling is a light ice cream with full fat flavor and little hunks of cookie dough dispersed sparingly throughout. Checking out the reviews at YumYucky and On Second Scoop, I count myself lucky that I actually had chocolate chips in mine.
Each 61 gram Breyers Smooth & Dreamy Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Ice Cream Sandwich provides 160 calories, 6% & 12% of the daily value for total and saturated fat, 1 gram of fiber, 15 grams of sugar and 3 grams of protein. I would say that those are some pretty reasonable stats for such a delicious treat! The ingredient list is shockingly long, but if you take a moment to read through it, you will see that it is all pretty self explanatory stuff. The only thing that I would like to see take a hike is the high fructose corn syrup.
This is a deliciously, delightful ice cream treat worthy of the 3 Weight Watchers Points. I would shell out $3.79 for 6 of these splendid after-dinner treats again in a heartbeat!

These look pretty yummy and not bad stats for a ice cream sandwich. Back when I had no concept of calories or "what was good for me" I would eat those delicious Toll House Cookie ice cream sandwiches.
What's wrong with the HFCS? If you like Breyers, I'd try the new Smooth and Dreamy Dark Chocolate Velvet Ice Cream flavor.
I really like the Healthy Choice fudge bars. I actually bought them because of the positive review on this website. They're rich tasting, but only 80 calories!
Despite these ice creams looking like mutant spawns, I could eat the whole box(es).
