Blackburn's Strawberry Preserves

Blackburn's Strawberry Preserves Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwiches are pretty much a staple in my diet because I eat about 3 or 4 of those sweet and satisfying sandwiches each week. I like to experiment by trying different brands of peanut butter, and jam. Smuckers Sugar Free Apricot Preserves has been rocking my world lately, but alas, the bottom of the jar was in sight, so time to try something new. The cute little jar of Blackburn's Strawberry Preserves reeled me in, hook, line and sinker!

While these intriguing preserves possess a wonderfully sweet strawberry flavor, they do not make for a very good sandwich. The thin, watery preserves come oozing out from the bread every which way. Darn! I really wanted to like this stuff, so I could stock up on an arsenal of cute jars.

"Pure Strawberry Preserves" is declared in a bold red print above the nutrition profile on Blackburn's label and it's possibly a liberal use of the term "pure" since the ingredients include strawberries, corn syrup, high fructose corn syrup, sugar, pectin and citric acid. Each 1 tablespoon serving provides 50 calories, no fat or sodium and 9 grams of sugar.

Personally, I think the texture could be kicked up a notch by getting rid of some of that pesky high fructose corn syrup and/or adding more pectin (something needs to be done). I can never see myself buying Blackburn's Strawberry Preserves again because of the impractical watery texture - not necessarily because of the flavor, which (as you would expect after reading all of those varieties of sugar in the ingredient list) is spot on.

I could have purchased some good ole' Smuckers Sugar Free (or not) Preserves for $1.23, but I unknowingly decided to spend an extra $0.55 for an 18 ounce container of something new (bad idea this time around).

good and elaborate review. i am a nutritionist and i would prefer to delve deeper into the nutritional value of food but this review gets more than passing from me. I would love to see this review more than just brand names but even particular food articles such as pork recipe or something like that.
