Larabar Pistachio Bar

With so many flavors offered by Larabar, it's not surprising that I'm just getting around to trying Larabar Pistachio Bar. When I saw it in my local grocery store - I knew it was going to be bought (it costs $1.99), because I HEART pistachios (why oh why are these nuts always so expensive though).

NUTRITION FACTS
Serving Size: 1 bar (51 grams)
Calories: 210
Total Fat: 10 grams, 15%
Saturated Fat: 1.5 grams, 6%
Sodium: 0%
Carbohydrates: 28 grams
Fiber: 4 grams, 18%
Sugars: 20 grams
Protein: 5 grams

Excited to try this variety, I unwrapped the bar as soon as I set foot outside the store. Larabar describes this flavor as "succulent" and "nutty," but I beg to differ. The bar had a weird, sickeningly sweet flavor and a weird green color. I could barely taste a hint of pistachios. I was tempted to stop after the first bite, but I decided to give it another shot. Unfortunately for me, it didn't get better. The ingredients list is stellar (the best thing about the bar): dates, pistachios & cashews. This bar is high in total fat (15% of the DV) and sugar (20 grams).

A 51 gram Larabar Pistachio Bar also provides 210 calories, which isn't too bad considering the size (I usually take my time and nibble throughout the day) plus there is also 18% of the DV for fiber and 5 grams of protein.

There really is nothing special about this bar that would make me buy it again (not for 41.99 anyway). The taste is lackluster & the nutrition facts are mediocre. I appreciate the simplicity and natural-ness of the ingredients, but this just isn't enough to sell me. I do like Larabars though.

i was so excited to see the pistachio flavor in my local store that i jumped right on it and bought it. I was not what i wanted it to be. NO pistachio flavor and yes it was oddly sweet. THe best ones ive tried so far are peanut butter cookie and apple pie flavor (which is only 180 calories! the lowest calorie count out of all flavors i believe. If youve never tried those two flavore i suggest you should. so yummy

Aww that sucks to hear because I love pistachio nuts too. Oh well...

Lara Bars do not have any sodium, except for the peanut butter and jelly one. This bar has 410mg of potassium, not sodium. Just thoguht I'd point that out.

That said, I'm not a huge fan of this flavor either. I am a pistachio lover and I found this to have little nutty flavor and more of an overwhealming sweetness. :(
