Yoplait Whips Strawberry Mist

Yoplait Whips Strawberry MistHave you tried Yoplait Whips yet? I recently reviewed the Chocolate Mousse Style Yoplait Whips after being tempted by this commercial about freezing hte yogurt, and was delightfully surprised by the outcome, despite the slightly off-setting aftertaste. I decided to try the Strawberry Mist flavor to see if I would like it any better.

I put it in the freezer immediately upon returning home and was planning on waiting a few days for it to fully firm up before enjoying the light & fluffy yogurt. However, later that evening, I could hold back no longer and grabbed a spoon to dig in. Surprisingly, the yogurt had frozen almost completely and the texture was perfectly creamy and smooth ... I am beginning to wonder what Yoplait Whips would taste like piled into a crunchy cake cone?! Probably quite good because when you pull one out of the freezer, it is astonishingly similar to ice cream (or creamy cold frozen yogurt).

When it's eaten without being frozen, it's comparable to a fluffy mousse. Better yet, the flavor profile of the Strawberry Mist variety has no touch of artificial aftertaste. Instead, a light strawberry essence with a creamy background consumes your mouth and excites your taste buds.

A 4 ounce serving of Yoplait Whips Strawberry Mist provides 140 calories, 2.5 grams of total fat, of which 2 grams is saturated fat (3% & 10% of the daily value - a little bit of fat gives it that creaminess), 5 grams of protein, no fiber and 21 grams of sugars (yikes). The ingredients are, Lowfat Strawberry Yogurt (Cultured Pasteurized Grade A Reduced Fat, Milk, Sugar, Nonfat Milk, High Fructose Corn Syrup, Strawberry Puree, Modified Corn Starch, Kosher Gelatin, Natural Flavor, Potassium Sorbate Added to Maintain Freshness, Colored with Carmine, Vitamin A Acetate, Vitamin D3), Lactic Acid Esters of Mono and Diglycerides, Nitrogen.

I paid $0.60 cents for a 4 oz container and although I loved the taste and frozen 9and non-frozen) texture, I'm looking at all that sugar that I could get a 5.3 ounce tub of all natural Greek yogurt, like Fage Total 2% Cherry Greek Yogurt, which has less sugar ... but it also 3x more expensive. Decisions, decisions ... I'm not gonna lie - I'll probably buy this again (and try more flavors), but this definitely falls in the "once in a while treats" category.

Oh, man. Hands-down my favorite yogurt. I can go through several of these in one sitting. Definitely agree with it being a "once in a while" treat.
