Nutridel Almond Cookie

Nutridel Almond CookiesHaving tried (and loved) Nutridel Pecan Cookies, I knew I had to try another variety, so I opted for the Almond. I loved the nuttiness of the pecan variety of Nutridel's Cookies, so I had high hopes for the Almond (especially since almonds are my favorite nut).

Each cookie is thin, yet dense, making for a delicately crispy and crunchy delight! The first bite was pretty tasty and the almond essence was most definitely present, but it tasted a little more like almond extract than the real deal.

Almonds are naturally fairly mellow, so I can understand why extract might be necessary, but I would have preferred it toned down a notch ... or two. The flavor sort of reminded me of a batch of cookies that I made one time when my hand slipped and the almond extract went pouring in.

Each CD-sized Nutridel Almond Cookie provides 59 calories from 2 grams of total fat, 5% of the daily value for fiber, 4 grams of sugar and 2 grams of protein. The ingredient list continues to impress: whole wheat flour, wheat bran, amaranth, almonds, molasses, sunflower oil and natural almond essences.

Overall, I think that Nutridel Cookies make for a tasty and wholesome snack to get you through a long afternoon or to nutritiously satisfy your sweet tooth, but the Almond Nutridel Cookie did not impress me enough to make me shell out $42 for 28 twin packs. The Nutridel Pecan Cookiesthough are worth it.

I haven't tried the Flax and Oatmeal, but I've heard good things and can't wait to try them.
