Jelly Belly Sugar Free Jelly Beans

Jelly Belly Sugar-Free Jelly BeansAlthough I usually prefer chocolate treats, sometimes it's hard to shake fruity, chewy craving that only jelly beans can fulfill. I LOVE Jelly Bellys, but there is a lot of sugar ... and these are probably the worse type of candy for your teeth. Still, I will not be denied my Jelly Bellys on occasion, so I turned to Jelly Belly Sugar Free Jelly Beans, to see if they could satisfy my occasional longing.

The sugar-free Jelly Bellys are available in many of the same flavors as the regular version, including Very Cherry, Tangerine, Green Apple, Juicy Pear, and Buttered Popcorn. I was actually amazed at how much the sugar free version taste like the real thing - sweet, chewy candy. The package warns of possible stomach discomfort and/or laxative effect - take this indication seriously! I snacked on an entire bag (2 servings), and found the next few hours to be very uncomfortable - probably due to the 23 grams of sugar alcohols per serving. There is also 90 calories and 36% of the daily value of fiber in each serving.

The ingredients are Polydextrose, Maltitol Syrup, Maltitol, Modified Food Starch, Contains 2% or Less of the Following: Sucralose (Splenda Brand), Citric Acid, Natural & Artificial Flavors, Color Added, Blue 2 Lake, Yellow 5 & 6 Lake, Yellow 5 & 6, Red 40, Red 40 Lake, Blue 1, Tapioca Dextrin, Beeswax, Carnauba Wax, Confectioner's Glaze, Salt.

I found a 3.1-oz bag for sale at the drug store for $2.49. I learned my lesson about eating an entire bag of sugar - free candy. Don't make the same mistake I did. that said, I'm sure if I had limited myself to a handful or 2, I would have been quite content with my satisfied sweet tooth. I was also surprised to see fiber in this! I keep wondering if it isn't a mistake - oh well, I'll still take it.
