Campbell's Select Harvest Light Maryland Style Crab Soup
Maryland is well known for its crab culture - mean, you folks love you some crab! And so do I. There is a distinctive flavor and I commend Campbell's for trying their hand at a commercially made crab soup - and to name it "Maryland Style" - well, it better be damned good and I was fired up to try it.

While warming up my can of Campbell's Select Harvest Light Maryland Style Crab Soup, the smell of crab meat wafted through the air which made my tummy gurgle with anticipation. It might have been a little too hot when I put that first spoonful in my mouth - but I didn't care. The tomato soup base is chunky with potatoes, carrots, corn, and more and has a very light kick of pepper to spice things up. The crab tasted like ... crab - which is a good thing as it didn't taste like over-processed mush. But, although this soup looked and tasted great, I wish there had been larger pieces of crab rather than the thin strings that I saw.
A 1 cup serving of Campbell's Select Harvest Light Maryland Style Crab Soup provides 80 calories, 1% of the daily value for total fat, 480 milligrams of sodium (20% DV), plus 2 grams of fiber, 6 grams of sugars and 3 grams of protein. There are also 30% DV vitamin A and 10% DV vitamin C.
I paid $2.00 for an 18.6 ounce can of this soup. Considering the price, I was very satisfied with the quality of the soup - I am adding this as one of my favorite varieties of Campbell's Select harvest Light Soup. Even though there are technically 2 servings in a can, I had the whole can for lunch, which provides a lot of sodium, but draining part of the liquid can reduce the sodium even more. I love chunky soup, and this one certainly delivers.

I wish I agreed! I was so excited to eat this soup but half way through it I proclaimed that I was never buying this style again. It just wasn't "meaty" enough and I felt that I had been robbed of one of my three meals by eating it. Oh well..
I have to agree with Julie. The crab meat was just not there although the crab flavor most certainly was.
ooh- looks interesting! i never seem to try any soup except the traditional veggie, chicken noodle and clam chowder...I'll have to give this one a shot!
I'm with Julie and Emily here. I saw NO evidence of crab in my bowl of crab soup. There was a faint flavor, yes. But it seemed to me like someone added a spoon of crab boil to a 50-cent can of vegetable soup. Disappointing.
I have just finished a can of this soup for lunch, for the first time. I LOVED it! I have been living on the west coast for over 12 years, and for the first time I felt I found my Manhattan Clam Chowder again. I think the stock is delicious, and I was happy with the richness. I got it on sale for 99cents, so I did not expect chunks of crab floating in it. I will gladly add a small can of chopped clams or white crab meat the next time I have it. Try it!
