Ocean Spray Cranergy Raspberry Cranberry Lift

Cranergy Raspberry Cranberry LiftI got a sample of Cranergy Energy Juice Drinks from the company a while ago, and only just now got around to trying them. To be honest, they had sort of disappeared into my cabinet! I rediscovered them today, though, and picked up a bottle of the Raspberry Cranberry Lift flavor.

This flavor is described as having, "the sweet taste of raspberries and the tart taste of cranberries combined with green tea extract and B vitamins. It also has Vitamin C to help boost immunity ... a delicious and naturally energizing juice drink to help you get stuff done."

I am not a big fan of green tea extract, but I took a sip and decided that I liked the taste very much. There was only the slightest hint of an earthy green tea flavor, and I liked the combo of raspberry and cranberry. It was refreshing and sweet - not a good beverage for after exercising, but good as a juice substitute. But did I get some extra pep in my step from drinking this? Well, I was refreshed and my thirst was quenched, and I suppose that's what really matters. Could I stay up all night cramming for an exam after drink a bottle (or a few bottles of this stuff? Doubtful. Did I feel better after drinking this, than an energy drink full of caffeine and other stimulants? Definitely.

Each 12-ounce bottle of Cranergy Raspberry Cranberry Lift provides 50 calories, 13 grams of sugar, 100% of the daily value for vitamin C and 70% for each vitamin B2, niacin, B6, B12, and pantothenic acid. The sweeteners used is Splenda and there is 55 mg of caffeine per 8 ounce serving (from the green tea extract).

The packaging mentions that this contains 20% fruit juice - not necessarily all cranberry juice. The ingredients list includes, filtered water, grape juice from concentrate, cranberry juice from concentrate, raspberry juice from concentrate, malic acid, green tea extract, natural flavors, sodium citrate, ascorbic acid (vitamin C), pectin, sucralose (Splenda brand), maltodextrin, red 40 (color), niacin, pantothenic acid, vitamin B6, vitamin B2, vitamin B12.

I received a sample from the company, but a check of my local grocery store revealed that a 4-bottle pack retails for $5.19. This is a good choice if you're into flavored water or energy boosting beverages. The taste ranks up there with the best of them, and the added nutrition isn't bad either. I bet this would be fantastic with some seltzer water too.
