Clif Carrot Cake Energy Bar
Clif Energy Bars were the first type that the company made (now you can get Clif Builder's, Clif Kids ZBars, Clif Mojo and more). Clif says their energy bars are, "... made with whole, all-natural, organic ingredients. Good nutrition. And great taste. Whether you're on a 150-mile bike ride or making your way through a long day, it's the energy bar for everyone."
What struck me as funny was that as I actually thought this Clif Carrot Cake Energy Bar was actually banana bread until I turned the package over.
Serving Size: 1 bar (68 grams)
Calories: 240
Total Fat: 4 grams, 6%
Saturated Fat: 1.5 grams, 8%
Sodium: 150 mg, 6%
Carbohydrates: 46 grams
Fiber: 5 grams, 20%
Sugars: 21 grams
Protein: 10 grams
Each bite provides a gooey sweetness and is extremely dense with noticeable bits of oats and soy rice crisps mixed smoothly throughout. One of the best parts: you can definitely taste the soy white chocolate, which creates an icing effect.
Each huge 68 gram bar provides 240 calories, 6% and 8% of the daily value for total and saturated fat (4 grams and 1.5 grams), 5 grams of fiber (20% of the D), 21 grams of sugar and 10 grams of protein. This is the same size as Clif Builder's Bars, which has similar nutrition facts (calories, fat & sugar), but 2x as much protein.
Like the PowerBar Triple Threat Chocolate Peanut Butter Crisp Bar, the first ingredient in the Clif Carrot Cake Energy Bar is a sugar - in this case, organic brown rice syrup. The ingredients list is a little lengthy, but most are easily recognizeable, plus this bar is heavily fortified with a number of vitamins & minerals.
As stated before, at times, I am not sure if this is supposed to be carrot cake or banana bread; but I guess they are similar in some ways (i.e. sweetness, texture). Clif Bars are generally quite sweet and the sugar and calorie count is a bit high, but these are designed as energy bars - meaning the best time to eat this when you're actively working out HARD - like they say, during long bike rides or runs. In that respect, I think Clif Bars are spot on for providing tasty and nutritious energy for a hard workout (or simply after a really long day).
I paid $1.47 on campus for my Clif Carrot Cake Bar and this variety has become one of my favorites. Which Clif variety is your favorite?!

I like Clif bars, at the right time. They don't really keep me full and 250 cals a bar is a commitment. So it's more like a healthy candy bar (post-workout snack) for me usually.
I am partial to the Cool Chocolate Mint flavor and Chocolate Chip Peanut Crunch. I liked the Iced Gingerbread seasonal flavor but I bought a whole case on sale from Amazon... and now I'm rather sick of them! Maybe I'll want another by next Christmas... Hehe.
oooh chocolate chip is my fav! I like heating it up in the microwave-BLISS.
I agree that despite the protein they dont keep me full- i could easily down 2 of them. :X
I just got into energy bars last year and they're really good. I'm not a big fan of the sugar count contained in this carrot cake bar, but since it's my favorite kind of cake in the whole world, I WILL be picking one up before my workout tomorrow.

Clifbars are my best friends. I always have it in my bag so when I am hungry and I still have no time to eat, I have them.
where did your more recent posts go?
I had a late night accident with the delete button. They should be all restored now except for comments :-(
I love love LOVE Clif bars... but I could barely finish the carrot cake one. I never thought I would ever say this- but it was just too sweet!
I like Clif bars (however, nothing compared to Odwalla!) but I especially like this one, as I love carrot everything...I give it 2 thumbs up!
