Breyers No Sugar Added Double Churn Butter Pecan Ice Cream
I love ice cream. It's one of the things I make allowances for whenever I'm watching what I eat. Still, I don't want to go crazy with all the fat the "regular" stuff provides, so I often opt for "Double Churn" ice cream which is a lower fat version. Since Breyers Double Churn Butter Pecan Ice Cream got a good review, I decided to give the Sugar Free version a try.

I've eaten home-made butter pecan ice cream, and it is divine. Luscious, creamy, buttery ice cream enveloping chunks of toasted pecan is heaven on a spoon. Sadly, Breyer's Sugar Free Butter Pecan Ice Cream pales in comparison. In fact, it pales to Breyer's numerous other ice creams. It's sweet, but there really isn't much butter flavor; it's more like the weakest vanilla ice cream that I've ever had. There are pecans, but they are whole, meaning that you don't get many per bite. They are also soggy, so I guess you won't miss them anyway. The texture is downright sandy. It's not the gritty texture that old ice cream gets - it really is a fine, grainy texture. And after all of that, a couple hours late, I had terrible gas and a sour milk taste in my mouth. Yuck
!
Each 1/2 cup serving of Breyers No Sugar Added Double Churn Butter Pecan Ice Cream provides110 calories, 9% and 13% of the daily value for total and saturated fat, 16% of the DV for fiber and 4 grams of sugar.
A 1.5 quart container cost me about $3.00, which is a lot cheaper than some of the premium brands. But while the nutrition is great for a butter pecan ice cream, I wouldn't buy this again, even on sale.
