Pacific Natural Foods Organic All Natural French Onion Soup

Pacific Natural Foods Organic French Onion SoupThere are just times when nothing but a comforting bowl of soup will do. As such, I have my favorites, but as I love to try different things, I found myself intrigued when I saw Pacific Natural Foods' Organic French Onion Soup. Each 8-ounce serving has just 30 calorie which was way too tempting to pass up. I bought my 16 ounce soup box for $2.29, which was a reasonable price for an all-natural soup.

I opened the container and poured myself a cupful. When it was heated it up, I dug in (can you dig in with soup)? It was decent, though it was highly salty, which put a damper on the flavor.

I'm more a fan of French onion soups on the sweeter end of the spectrum, so this wasn't necessarily my cup of tea (or soup). I finished the container and was pretty satisfied, but I can't say this is the best soup I've ever had. I flipped over the box to see what kind of sodium damage I was looking at, and saw the following nutritional information: 30 calories, 1 gram of fat, 30% of the daily value for sodium, 3 grams of sugar, and 1 gram of protein for each 8-ounce serving.

Wow - 60% of the daily value for sodium for a container! The ingredients are filtered water, organic sauteed onion base (organic onions, organic dried onion, salt, organic butter (milk), natural flavor), organic cane sugar, organic onion flavor (contains organic sunflower oil), sea salt, organic garlic powder, autolyzed yeast extract and Xanthan gum.

This is not one of my favorite soups from Pacific Natural and while I remain a loyal fan of the brand, I'm not a big fan of this soup.
