Oscar Mayer Real Bacon Bits

Oscar Mayer Bacon BitsAdding bacon bits can instantly give your salad and other recipes instant va-va-voom! I have stayed away from the fake stuff, but when I saw Oscar Meyer Real Bacon Bits and looked at the decent nutrition facts, I decided to try it out.

Each 1 tablespoon serving provides only 25 calories, 1.5 grams of total fat and 7% of the daily value for sodium (7%). The ingredients are bacon (cured with water, sodium, salt, sugar, sodium phosphates, sodium ascorbate, sodium nitrite), hickory smoke flavor, and artificial flavor.

The taste is pure heaven. But don't take my word for it. My little taste testers loved it. I added it to scrambled eggs, omelets and salads. I confess I made homemade pizza and sprinkled a little on that too. But I even spiced up some green beans with a few sprinkles, and everybody ate it up with no complaints.

I bought a 3 ounce bag of Oscar Mayer Real Bacon Bits for $1.89 and it was well worth it. I can't say that I really NEED to have Bacon Bits around, but when I do, I'm not going to reach for the fake stuff - which coincidentally has more calories than this.

And just in case you were wondering how many strips of bacon it takes to make a 3 ounce bag ... this actually never crossed my mind, but the folks at Cockeyed.com decided to fry up some bacon and find out - it was 12 strips.

I'd eat these like a bag 'o chips.

I can come up with so many uses for this. Baked potatoes...Um. Apparently, I can only come up with one, but it's a good one.

sodium nitrite is a BIG no....artificial flavor could mean anything, but most probably means MSG...I refuse to eat such chemically processed foods.

sodium nitrate, no thanks! "artificial flavor" could be any sort of chemical but most likely is MSG... I refuse to eat chemically processed, altered foods.

I live in NH where can i find you real bacon bits in what stores my zip code in 03249
