Campbell's Select Harvest Light Vegetable Beef & Barley Soup

Campbell's Select Harvest Light Vegetable Beef & Barley SoupCampbell's Select Harvest Light Vegetable Beef & Barley Soup lured me in with the promise of a bounty of delicious barley in the picture on the front of the label. After having several soups from the Campbell's Select Harvest line, I was accustomed to the tomato soup base and was able to focus on what was inside the soup. The vegetables, including carrots celery, and peas, were soft and carried the taste of the soup well.

Like the picture, the beef was cut into small cubes and tasted a little dry on the inside but were not bad nonetheless. The barley was delicious, adding heartiness to the soup, but having more of the barley would have made the soup even better.

A 1 cup serving of Campbell's Select Harvest Light Vegetable Beef & Barley Soup provides 80 calories and 1.5 grams of fat, 20% of the daily value for sodium, 4 grams of fiber and 5 grams of protein.

An 18.6 ounce can of soup was on sale at Kroger for $1.25, but it normally sells for $2.89. The heartiness of the soup was much appreciated on a cold day. Except for the sodium which is about the same as most low sodium soups, the nutrition facts are pretty good - and I like the fiber and protein combination.

While the ingredients list is a little lengthy, the Campbell's Select line of soups are 100% natural. Overall, this is one canned soup I would buy again and again. It was hearty and filling.

The wife and I are trying to eat more healthy, so we picked this up. The beef is better than most canned soups (Progresso, I'm looking at you). Despite being low-sodium, they balanced the flavors well.
